New Hereville Page Is Up!

A new Hereville page is up. This is page seven. As promised, more violent than last week’s page. Less wordy, too.

    I smell T-shirt.

Perhaps also a catchphrase: “Hereville THIS!”

(I kid. Great page. Great moment.)

I LOVE the facial expression in the last frame. It reminds me of my littel sister. (Ok.. she’s 43.. but still lil’ sis!)

Thanks, Lucia. I redrew that panel a few times looking for the right tone and expression. :-)

    (And thanks to Kip, too.)

But it doesn’t seem to me to be more violence; she stopped the violence. She did what she had to do.

While I’ve had a few problems with Hereville so far, I have to say this for you Amp: I think it’s marvelous that to you, this is a “more violent” page. Perhaps you just mean that it’s more violent than the previous week’s page, but it’s nice in general to see someone who views wacking someone else with a branch as “violent.” It’s a refreshing change of pace from say, “Kill Bill” or “Akira” or, hell, most other stuff these days.

    Good on you.

I’m afraid all I meant is that it was more violent than page 6. :-)

I’ve got nothing against violence in comics, but I don’t expect that Hereville will be very violent as comic books go. For one thing, I don’t like drawing fights very much; I’d rather draw people talking. In fact, it embarasses me a tiny bit that I’m on page seven and already it’s a fight scene (albeit a very mild fight scene compared to what’s in Akira).

Anyway, here’s the plot outline for the month or two of Hereville, after the current confrontation ends: Talk. More talk. Some more talk. More talking. More talk. Then perhaps, o I don’t know, some more talking. Then the whole family will help prepare for Shabbot dinner.

  7. This was awesome, Amp. I mean, talking’s cool and all, but to be able to have a page with all action is really cool.

I really look forward to Hereville every week. It perks up my otherwise drab Thursdays. :)

    Ampersand says:

That’s what I love to hear, kStyle (well, not the bit about your Thursdays being drab, but the other stuff). Thanks!

Ah! I see that you construct your stories in much the same way that I do: people stand around and blab to one another. Honestly, that’s more exciting than fighting when the dialogue is good.
