The prospect of a Chris Christie vs Hilary Clinton race has me terrified already. Any time I read facebook or blogs or even just listen to the conversations on the bus, I’d either hear what Republicans are saying and be driven up the wall by the misogyny, or hear what my alleged allies are saying and be driven up the wall by the anti-fat bigotry. I might have to just move to some small island with no internet for that election year.

(I don’t know why this is cracking me up today, but it is.)
There’s a blog run by an Episcopal priest. She specializes in gay rights, being a lesbian herself. I pop by on occasion. At one point her contribution to the discourse about the acceptability of sexually active homosexual priests in TEC (the Episcopal Church – that’s the acronym they want people to use now) was to post pictures of a couple of the opponents of the ordination of such and ridicule them for their weight. Having frequented this blog for a while I thought that was problematical and left a comment saying such. I got a bunch of ridicule heaped on me by both the blog owner and some of the commenters, at which point they returned to ridiculing their opponents.
I’ve found plenty of examples on the left (as well as the right) of ridiculing people because of their weight, as well as other aspects of their appearance. So what you cite doesn’t surprise me.
Interesting. Link me?
