Favorite quotes from pages 1-15:
“Anyone can get into an argument …. How do you get out of the argument?”
“You can’t let bullies rule your life.”
“What do you call this?” [As Mirka pushes Zindel into a confrontation.]
“Shhhh!” [Mirka shushing a bunny.]
“[T]hat’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“Thanks!”
Thanks.
The panel of Mirka pushing Zindel is a favorite of mine.
Ok, I haven’t listened to any audio interviews, so I’m simply going to ask: How do you pronounce Mirka? Mir as in “murky”? Or Mir as in “meerkat”?
I pronounce it as in “murky.” I’m not certain how real-life Yiddish speakers would pronounce it, however.
My reading of Wikipedia suggests the “meerkat”-like pronunciation, which also just sort of feels right to me. I’m not a real-life Yiddish speaker, though, nor do I know one. (I do have a friend who’s studying Hebrew in divinity school, but I doubt his answer would be any more reliable.)
By the way, I just flew through the 15-page preview. It’s pretty great, as I expected! If I hadn’t suddenly run into financial trouble I would be ordering it right now. As it is, I’ll have to wait a bit, but I do look forward to reading Hereville.
Thanks, Skyborne!
You could also ask your local library to get a copy. That helps me just as much as any other sale!
You’re going to sell a million of these.
When you write your first post complaining about high taxes, please send it to me first. I want to print out hundreds of copies and roll around in them.
