Same Sex Marriage Legalized In Delaware, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and France

Delaware legalizes gay marriage

Minnesota governor signs same-sex marriage bill

[Rhode Island governor] Chafee signs gay marriage into law

French gay marriage law gets constitutional all-clear

In all three US states, gay marriage was passed thought the legislature. What I find amazing is how little news this has made. Marriage equality is well on the way to being no big deal.

Well, sure, but it still hasn’t been legalized by a vote of a Republican legislature during primary season. It’s not real until that happens.

    Heh.

In a way, that is what happened in Rhode Island. Okay, not really, but this is still interesting – the Republican caucus in the Rhode Island Senate voted unanimously in favor of same-sex marriage.

I think that may be the first time that a caucus of either party has voted unanimously for SSM.

Of course, it’s easier to achieve 100% agreement when there are only five members of your caucus, but still: Hooray for Rhode Island Republicans.

Well, sure, but they’re from Rhode Island. They’re not real Republicans. You’re only a real Republican if you don’t vote for marriage deregulation you’re from a true-blue red state.

    Robert says:

For it to truly count, the Republican legislators, who may NOT be from any place that is an island or has ‘Island’ in its name, because those places are always stuffed with hippie islander Democrats, must cast their vote while fervently and explicitly envisioning how much they like heterosexual intercourse (if heterosexual) AND denying that they are doing any such thing. If homosexual, they must say that they are thinking about Jesus.

“Oh! certainly,” cried his faithful assistant, “no Republican can be really esteemed real who does not greatly surpass what is usually met with. A Republican must have a thorough knowledge of music, singing, drawing, dancing, and the modern languages, to deserve the word; and besides all this, she must possess a certain something in her air and manner of walking, the tone of her voice, her address and expressions, or the word will be but half-deserved.”

“All this she must possess,” added Darcy, “and to all this she must yet add something more substantial, in the improvement of her mind by extensive reading.”

“I am no longer surprised at your knowing only six real Republicans. I rather wonder now at your knowing any.”
