Don’t forget to enjoy lots of food while you are up here. You probably can’t find as good a ratio of quality to price anywhere else in North America.
Any recommendations? What should everybody eat when they go there? (You know, like you go to Chicago you need to eay deep dish pizza, Philadelphia is a cheesesteak, Cincinnati is chili, and so.)
Poutine.
Well, you really *shouldn’t* eat it, but it is our trashy fast-food classic. It’s french fries with cheese curds and brown sauce (a type of gravy). It’s sort of hideously wonderful.
Outside of that, it depends on what you like and what price range you’re aiming at. Where are the meetings being held? There’s a very nice Italian restaurant called Il Sole on St. Laurent I recommend wholeheartedly. Not too expensive.
Also smoked meat. Schwartz’s is the most famous and an experience in itself, but there are a couple of other mainstays too. And bagels, recommend St. Viateur’s or Fairmount bagels.
Tara’s dead on. Bagels and smoked meat are huge here.
You’ll love it! It’s an amazing city…
