I am super excited to announce that the graphic novel adaptation The Dragonet Prophecy, with artwork by Mike Holmes, has won the 2021 Young Readers’ Choice Awards (YRCA)!

Barry Deutsch and I adapted the graphic novel from The Dragonet Prophecy, book 1 of the Wings of Fire series, written by Tui T. Sutherland. The novel is the first in a fifteen-book series.

Not every dragonet wants a destiny … Clay has grown up under the mountain, chosen along with four other dragonets to fulfill a mysterious prophecy and end the war between the dragon tribes of Pyrrhia. He’s The Dragonet Prophecy Graphic Novel Book Cover, five dragons in a red skynot so sure about the prophecy part, but Clay can’t imagine not living with the other dragonets; they’re his best friends. How totally awesome–I think. What was your role in this again? And Amp’s?

    Ampersand says:

Tui Sutherland created everything and wrote the prose novels. Mandolin and I write the scripts for the graphic novels together, staying as close as we can to Tui’s novels. Then Mike Holmes draws the graphic novels, and Maarta Laiho colors Mike’s drawings.

Down here in Oz, my then 10 year old fell in love with the books via the graphic novels. She got me to read them all too. The books are stocked in the school library and are super popular. I must admit, I got a thrill when I saw your names attached!

That’s so nice to hear! It’s neat being attached to something this popular (which I’ve never been before and suspect I will never be again). Thanks, Lesley.
