Also, check out the new <a href=\"http:\/\/amptoons.poliblog.com\/blog\/cat_abortion_partialbirth_abortion.html\">&#8220;partial birth abortion&#8221; catagory<\/a>, containing loads of &#8220;Alas&#8221; PBA-related posts in a single link.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brainchildmag.com\/essays\/summer2004_niesslein.html\">An interesting essay <\/a>in &#8220;Brain, Child: The magazine for thinking mothers&#8221; asks if there is any common interest that all mothers can be said to share. Via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aldaily.com\/\">Arts and Letters Daily<\/a>.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/profhurtlaw.typepad.com\/bizfems\/2004\/08\/the_corporation.html\">Biz Femmes Speak! review of &#8220;The Corporation&#8221; the movie<\/a>, comparing the recent documentary film to the book it&#8217;s based on. According to Biz Femmes, the book argues that our legal system is structured in such a way that makes corporate evil-doing inevitable; the movie, which (according to the reviewer) takes a more simplistic &#8220;corporations do evil things&#8221; approach, sounds less interesting.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/atrios.blogspot.com\/2004_08_29_atrios_archive.html#109381254760837264\">Atrios <\/a>points out that Sheri Drew, the women the Republcan party chose to deliver the opening invocation at their convention, has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meridianmagazine.com\/ideas\/040310defendersprint.html\">compared supporting same-sex marriage to supporting Hitler<\/a>. No, really.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahc.umn.edu\/ahc_news\/080304\/The%20Gift.htm\">Interesting <i>New Yorker <\/i>character study <\/a>about someone who gave away millions of dollars to charity &#8211; and then, feeling he hadn&#8217;t done enough, decided to give away a kidney. Well worth reading for anyone interested in the pay gap issue.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/xxblog.com\/index.php\/archives\/2004\/08\/27\/singledivorced-parents-and-childrens-academic-achievement\/\">Also on XX, Trish Wilson points out <\/a>that &#8211; contrary to what what marriage movement scholars like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.familyscholars.org\/archives\/2004_08_22_archive.html#109361973904223169\">Elizabeth Marquardt <\/a>often suggest &#8211; fatherlessness isn&#8217;t as horrifying as it&#8217;s been cracked up to be.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/unfutz.blogspot.com\/2004\/08\/electoral-college-survey-829.html\">Unfutz <\/a>once again has a weekly report of what the electoral college prognostigators are saying. It&#8217;s a good week for Bush, who is still behind but is making solid gains in the polls.
