{"id":12498,"date":"2011-02-07T21:46:42","date_gmt":"2011-02-08T05:46:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slowpokecomics.com\/blog\/?p=362"},"modified":"2011-02-10T23:19:46","modified_gmt":"2011-02-11T07:19:46","slug":"this-week%e2%80%99s-cartoon-%e2%80%9cyear-of-the-mombies%e2%80%9d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/?p=12498","title":{"rendered":"This Week\u2019s Cartoon: \u201cYear of the Mombies\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/slowpokecomics.com\/strips\/mombies.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Year of the Mombies\" src=\"http:\/\/slowpokecomics.com\/strips\/mombies.png\" alt=\"comic about the Protect Life Act\" width=\"200\" \/><\/a>While much of the news media was rightly focused on Egypt last week, your friendly GOP-led House of Representatives was busy introducing a truly heinous bill called the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhrealitycheck.org\/blog\/2011\/02\/04\/protecting-life-bill-says-women\" >Protect Life Act<\/a>.&#8221; This bill would allow emergency room doctors to let a pregnant woman die rather than perform an abortion to save her life.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the pipe dream of some lone Bible-Belt crackpot from Upper Butt Scratch. The &#8220;Protect Life Act&#8221; is co-sponsored by <em>one hundred<\/em> Representatives, among them such right-wing luminaries as Paul Ryan and Ron Paul, whose libertarianism conveniently ends where ladyparts begin.<\/p>\n<p>You know, we fight these battles year after year, and instead of seeing reason gradually prevail, we have a situation where the opposition only grows more radical and monstrous.
