{"id":1327,"date":"2005-01-26T00:33:41","date_gmt":"2005-01-26T08:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amptoons.com\/blog\/archives\/2005\/01\/26\/palindrome-watch\/"},"modified":"2005-01-26T00:33:41","modified_gmt":"2005-01-26T08:33:41","slug":"palindrome-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/?p=1327","title":{"rendered":"Palindrome watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321<\/p>\n<p>* * *<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;m at it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.straightdope.com\/classics\/a970307a.html\">check out this wonderful anagram<\/a>: Richard Wallace, author of <em>Jack the Ripper, Light Hearted Friend<\/em> (Gemini Press, 1996), suggested that Lewis Carroll&#8217;s poem <em>Jabberwocky <\/em>is actually an anagram of Carroll&#8217;s confession to being Jack the Ripper.<\/p>\n<p>In a 1996 letter column of <em>Harpers<\/em>, Guy Jacobson and Francis Heaney wrote: &#8220;The first paragraph of [Wallace&#8217;s] article contains a grisly confession.&#8221; Wallace&#8217;s first sentence was:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This is my story of Jack the Ripper, the man behind Britain&#8217;s worst unsolved murders. It is a story that points to the unlikeliest of suspects: a man who wrote children&#8217;s stories. That man is Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll, author of such beloved books as Alice in Wonderland.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Which turned out to say, with the letters rearranged:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The truth is this: I, Richard Wallace, stabbed and killed a muted Nicole Brown in cold blood, severing her throat with my trusty shiv&#8217;s strokes. I set up Orenthal James Simpson, who is utterly innocent of this murder. P.S.
