((And yes, I noticed and winced at the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/12\/please-please-stop-saying-anti-fat-discrimination-is-the-last-acceptable-prejudice\/\">last acceptable form of discrimination<\/a>&#8221; subheadline at that link. Sigh.)) But within this cartoon, &#8220;fat&#8221; and &#8220;ugly&#8221; are clearly meant pejoratively, and that&#8217;s what I&#8217;m responding to.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Gamer-men-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Gamer-men-1-433x650.jpg\" alt=\"Gamer-men-1\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-18754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Gamer-men-1-433x650.jpg 433w, https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Gamer-men-1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The above cartoon, by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justinhubbell.com\/\">Justin Hubbell<\/a>, comes from <a href=\"http:\/\/goodmenproject.com\/arts\/masculinity-gaming-community-comic-hesaid\/\">The Good Men Project<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>My friend Ozy, discussing the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/knowyourmeme.com\/memes\/neckbeard\">neckbeard<\/a>&#8221; stereotype (which, appallingly, is frequently used by some online feminists) said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Neckbeards are basically as misogynistic as anyone else; it is dangerous to pretend that high-status and popular and pretty people cannot be misogynists; yr ableism and fatphobia and lookism are showing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This cartoon has the same flaw.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, the gag is poorly thought out: the characters says a woman is a &#8220;fat ugly whore,&#8221; while in real life <em>he himself<\/em> is fat and ugly. Get it? Get it? He&#8217;s a hypocrite! Hoo hoo ha ha!<\/p>\n<p>But wait: if <em>hypocrisy <\/em>is why it\u2019s wrong to call woman \u201cfat ugly whores,\u201d that implies such misogynistic asshattery is acceptable when it comes from the thin and handsome.
