Say nothing if<br \/>\nyou cannot say it well; make silence<br \/>\nthe voice of your wisdom. Don\u2019t let others insist<br \/>\nyou\u2019ve said enough; and if they then complain<br \/>\nyou speak too slowly, let them wait. They\u2019ll learn:<br \/>\nthe gift of speech reveals that we\u2019re not beasts,<br \/>\nbut even beasts are better civilized<br \/>\nthan those who ignore this gift\u2019s proper use. <\/p>\n<p>To say anything more would be to demonstrate the value of the warning these lines contain, though they do leave me with some questions I think are worth reflecting on: When and why have you chosen silence instead of speaking up? What have you risked in making that choice?
