(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/posts\/haiku-for-sept-21682052\">Here is an explanation<\/a> about why I\u2019ve been writing and posting haiku.)<\/p>\n<p>A day for walking,<br \/>\nbut I sit and try to work.<br \/>\nMy thoughts are so slow.<\/p>\n<p>Cats watch the birds cry.<br \/>\nA window divides their worlds,<br \/>\nbut watching is fun.<\/p>\n<p>Clouds whiten the sky,<br \/>\nswaddling snug and restrictive,<br \/>\nthe arms of autumn.<\/p>\n<p>Cold drives off the bugs.<br \/>\nWe shiver, but no bug bites<br \/>\nafflict our bonfire.<\/p>\n<p>Brisk air on my arms.<br \/>\nColder days come, and the dark,<br \/>\nbut this day: fresh, calm.<\/p>\n<p>The chilly blue skies<br \/>\nmake the world bright as summer.<br \/>\nLeaves, trees, flowers, friends.<\/p>\n<p>Colder than it looks.<br \/>\nThe wind sways me with the trees.<br \/>\nSo hard to stay still.<\/p>\n<p>The leaves keep blowing,<br \/>\ntethered to branches and trunk,<br \/>\nbrought short by their leash.<\/p>\n<p>Dry leaves, restless wind,<br \/>\nall these things I&#8217;ve seen before,<br \/>\ntrapped in recurrence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time for another round-up of my recent haiku!
