So as previously noted, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., last night got himself into trouble for calling the President a liar. Now, there\u2019s nothing wrong with calling the President a liar; indeed, that\u2019s a time-honored American tradition. But you\u2019re not supposed to do so by shouting at him while he\u2019s speaking to a joint session of Congress, especially if you\u2019re a member of the House of Representatives. That will get you in enormous trouble.<\/p>\n

H.R. 3200, Sec. 246, \u201cNo Federal Payment for Undocumented Aliens.\u201d The relevant text: \u201cNothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n | So, you know, the bill bans payments for undocumented aliens.<\/td>\n Okay, maybe the bill \u201cbans federal payments to undocumented aliens.\u201d But that doesn\u2019t mean it bans payments for\u00a0illegal immigrants<\/em>. Because, you know, the bill doesn\u2019t require people to show their long-form birth certificates when they show up at the doctor, and how can anyone know that Jose Gonzales isreally<\/em> an American citizen? Hmmmm?<\/p>\n | Also, there\u2019s no new government agency created to monitor immigration, because none exists right now. Oh, and what if someone pretended to be a U.S. Citizen and got around the law and got funding, even though they weren\u2019t supposed to? That would pretty much mean that instead of breaking the law, the\u2026uh\u2026law would give them candy! Yeah. I mean, everyone knows that if you can break a law, it\u2019s really the fault of the government for passing that law in the first place.<\/p>\n Finally, there\u2019s nothing in the law that specifically prohibits non-citizens from buying coverage without any support whatsoever from the government, and that\u2019s outrageous, because what Americans are most concerned about is that undocumented aliens aren\u2019t allowed to spend any money on anything while in this country.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n And your response to your opposition\u2019s point?<\/td>\n | They\u2019re either lying, or stupid, or possibly both.<\/td>\n | Barack Obama is a socialist.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n | So that\u2019s your summary! Were I a journalist, I\u2019d be forced to point out that reasonable minds disagree, and some say that the Obama plan would force you to kill your grandma so that an undocumented alien can get Viagra.
