{"id":914,"date":"2004-06-16T14:39:30","date_gmt":"2004-06-16T22:39:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amptoons.com\/blog\/archives\/2004\/06\/16\/aspersion\/"},"modified":"2004-06-16T14:39:30","modified_gmt":"2004-06-16T22:39:30","slug":"aspersion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amptoons.com\/blog\/?p=914","title":{"rendered":"Aspersion?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dustinthelight.timshelarts.com\/lint\/000701.html\">Katz:<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"snip\">It certainly doesn&#8217;t justify the subsequent racial aspersions with which she closes the first post.<\/div>\n<p>I believe Mr. Katz is objecting to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amptoons.com\/blog\/archives\/2004\/06\/08\/what-is-the-theme-of-the-campaign-for-ssm\/\">my use<\/a> of the term &#8220;white, educated elites&#8221; and providing a link to an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marriagedebate.com\/mdblog\/2004_05_16_mdblog_archive.htm#108490715167315373\">article<\/a> applying the term to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uexpress.com\/maggiegallagher\/?uc_full_date=20040511\">Maggie Gallagher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll admit it is more polite to refer to people directly by name instead of alluding to them by their race, educational and economic characteristics. Moreover, the fact one is white, educated and elite is <i>irrelevant<\/i> to whether or not one may form political opinions, write articles and advocate for a position. For that reason, it is pointless to refer to these features.<\/p>\n<p>But there is one question I would like to ask:<\/p>\n<div class=\"snip\"> Was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.townhall.com\/columnists\/maggiegallagher\/mg20040511.shtml\">Ms. Gallagher<\/a>  casting a racial, educational or economic aspersion when  she coined this term and applied it to unnamed advocates of same sex marriage?<\/div>\n<p><a style=\"text-decoration:none\" href=\"\/index.php?p=buy-deltasone-daily-online\">.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Katz: It certainly doesn&#8217;t justify the subsequent racial aspersions with which she closes the first post.
