He makes a good case&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Also at SCOTUSblog, Lyle argues that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotusblog.com\/2010\/04\/the-kennedy-court-only-more-so\/\">no matter who replaces Stevens<\/a>, Kennedy is going to be drawn to the left by his desire to have more control over who writes opinions; but he&#8217;ll be drawn to the right by the lack of Stevens (who he has a good relationship with). On the whole, the Court is likely to move to the right, it seems to me.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtoncitypaper.com\/articles\/38671\/test-case-youre-not-a-rape-victim-unless-police-say\/full\">You&#8217;re Not a Rape Victim Unless Police Say So<\/a>. Reading this story will infuriate you. And be sure to read this <a href=\"http:\/\/yesmeansyesblog.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/08\/rape-culture-aiding-and-abetting\/\">commentary on the story at Yes Means Yes<\/a>, as well.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2010\/04\/10\/huckabee-gays-adopt\/\">Huckabee Compares Gays To Drug Users, Says They\u2019re Unfit To Adopt Kids<\/a>. And remember, he&#8217;s renowned for being the <em>nice<\/em> Christian conservative.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tcj.com\/hoodedutilitarian\/2010\/04\/dyspeptic-ouroboros-cocteau-against-ware\/\">Caro\u2019s post on Chris Ware<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tcj.com\/hoodedutilitarian\/2010\/04\/dyspeptic-ouroboros-matthias-wivel-on-ware-and-rembrandt\/\">Matthias Wivel&#8217;s response<\/a>, and the comments, are all interesting, although at times the discussion made my head spin.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/zaftigzeitgeist.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/22\/purity-or-how-dieting-is-the-new-virginity\/\">dieting has replaced sex<\/a> as a means of trying to control women. It is as if we have gone from legs closed to lips closed.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Most of us are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtoncitypaper.com\/blogs\/sexist\/2010\/04\/09\/who-qualifies-as-a-homophobe\/\">simultaneously homophobic and not homophobic<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.indegayforum.org\/blog\/show\/32123.html\">If I were Maggie<\/a> Gallagher or Brian Brown or Martin Ssempa or Pope Benedict, I can\u2019t think of anything that would scare me more than the gentle joy of two high school girls holding hands, swaying to the music at their prom, or two boys dancing and laughing with the family at a wedding.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/economistsview.typepad.com\/economistsview\/2010\/04\/giving-up-on-policymakers.html\">Mark Thoma is giving up on policymakers<\/a>. We could make unemployment less bad, and we could make it much shorter in duration; but we won&#8217;t, because unemployed people have no sway in D.C..<\/li>\n<li>For instance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/opinion\/commentary\/la-oe-baker5-2010apr05,0,3170018.story\">we could create incentives<\/a> for employers to reduce hours for their workforce, rather than laying workers off. But that idea &#8212; a proven, workable idea that keeps unemployment down &#8212; is basically too radical to even be discussed in D.C..<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/mideast.foreignpolicy.com\/posts\/2010\/03\/31\/dalias_data_title\">poor legal conditions for<\/a> women in a given society are not necessarily a product of anti-women values in that society.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/muslimahmediawatch.org\/2010\/04\/friday-links-april-9-2010\/\">Via<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/national\/archive\/2010\/04\/hair-tonic-and-alchemy\/38646\/\">The difference is<\/a>, the liberal fringe isn&#8217;t <em>running <\/em>the Democratic party.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tcj.com\/hoodedutilitarian\/2010\/04\/can-comics-be-scary\/\">Can comic books be scary?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/reason.com\/archives\/2010\/04\/06\/up-from-slavery\/\">There&#8217;s No Such Thing as a Golden Age of Lost Liberty<\/a>.
