So I need to do a little personal plugging here. My mother, Wilma, runs Wilma’s Orphans, a not-for-profit (501c3) dog rescue here in New York. Students from the New York Institute of Technology Multimedia Workshop did a video profile of her that I think is pretty cool. If you’re looking to adopt a dog, or would be interested in making a donation, please check out her website. There’s also contact information in the video:

The best dog I ever had was one I adopted from a shelter. Rocky was his name. He was one of those “Mom was a German Shepherd and Dad … came from a good neighborhood” mixes. He was our dog while the kids were growing up and I used to have a good time hitting an old softball out into the field for him to chase and bring back to me. He went the way of all flesh when the kids were about 12 and 8 and I built a crate and buried him out on the property line with his favorite rubber duck. People running organizations like this are doing God’s work.
