Above, Sydney plays with her birthday candles (no one remembered to buy the kind you put on cakes, so we just found these in a drawer somewhere). Her expression in this photo gives me the giggles.
Sydney blows out the candles (with an assist from her daddy).
Sydney’s language skills have now grown to include phrases and short sentences; for example, she kept on requesting that adults sing the “birthday song.” (Which we did, quite a few times.)
The all-important inhaling of the birthday cake.
Next, the opening of presents. Yes, that’s a My Little Pony she’s extracting. She loves those things. The adults made jokes about porn star names.
Sydney just basically likes unwrapping presents and pulling things out of boxes. One of the presents she unwrapped had some sort of quality control sticker on it, which she pulled off and put on her cheek (you can see it in the photos below, if you look closely).
Here, Sydney plays with the lego-like blocks Grandma gave her, which she can stack impressively high.
More language skills: Later that night, Sydney was playing with her blocks and Charles said “she’s constructing.” Sydney immediately echoed him by saying “I’m constructing!” I’m very impressed both by how quickly she picked up “constructing,” which was probably a new word for her, and by how well she groks the whole third person/first person difference. When did that happen?
Even better than stacking blocks high is how much fun it is when the stack collapses. Boom!
Her language skills are impressive! A lot of kids are only starting the basics of one-word communication at age two, and figuring out the pronoun thing usually takes a pretty long time.
Does she, perhaps, live in an environment where people talk incessantly? :-)
Big candles more suited to her motor skills at this age, hence, way more fun.
She must like it when you bring fruit home – infinite numbers of little stickers.
She’s so cute, she should be illegal!
Oh, my gods, she’s SO adorable. And I know what you mean about the language thing.
Next she’ll be asking to drive the car. At five.
….Like my eldest daughter did.
Teach her to sing all the good songs! Like Pink Floyd and Rammstien and music from Rocky Horror Picture Show!
Let’s do, the Time, Warp, AGAIN!
She pretty cute :) Happy birthday Syd !
i ‘m really jealous of the gift !
My little pony !! I loved this cartoon in my childness :d
Happy belated B-day, Sydney!
