Sintel

A fourteen minute computer-animated short that I enjoyed. Interestingly, the filmmakers used open-source 3D software.

I should warn you that if you only like cute things, with no sad side to the story, then do not watch this video.

    Impressively well-done but kinda predictable!

I watched this yesterday – it’s really pro-level animation, especially facial expressions and textures (with some misses on the run cycles). It was so sad though! Maybe because the dragon has the same color eyes as my dog. :(

    Damn it, Amp.

The software used to make this is AMAZING.
    And yes, completely open-source.
But able to do everything the professional packages can do – fur, smoke, complex lighting and textures.
And the large community helps with the learning curve.

Would it be really egotistical of me to note that I am one of the artists who worked on this? :-P

9 months in Amsterdam, and it was a blast (well, that and stressful). Incidentally, I was getting into the feminist blogosphere during that same period. Thus a crazy 9 months of my life for multiple reasons.

Shameless plug: if anyone has freelance 3d work for me, feel free to contact me. :-)
