We just picked up another stray the other day. We’re looking for the owner but we’ll probably wind up adopting her. That will bring us back up to 4 cats in the house. She’s very sweet, seemingly not spayed and going into heat. Seems like she was found just in time. We hope.
It’s amazing how many lost and found cats there are.
We did. It’s hard having five of them indoors all the time, but… they all stay inside, where there are no coyotes. In Portland, I want to have a catio.
Oh, I wasn’t directing that at you, Mandolin. It was a generic plea.
Right now we’ve got one who is terrified of one and a half of the other cats. While Lollipop is out and around (noon to 9 PM), poor Sal hides in the basement and we close the door so his nemesis can’t get to him. The rest of the day (9PM to noon), Lollipop has his own room and Sal can wander the house. But he doesn’t do that much because Spotty might be around. Lollipop really wants a buddy but doesn’t understand cat social interaction. He thinks if he gets as close to another cat as possible at all times, he’ll make friends. Spotty doesn’t put up with that. At all.
New cat has a bathroom of her own and will until heat is over and she’s spayed and we’re sure she’s not a disease carrier. We are full up.
When I started dating my girlfriend a little under two years ago, she and her family had three cats. Now they have zero, and as it turns out, I’m a much bigger cat lover than any of them and none of them want to have cats again. I’m sad. :(
