Doodling with color and an online doodle toy.

This is kind of fun… a painless way for me to try and doodle around with color (I’ve always been scared of color, but now I’m trying to get over it). This site (which I found via the very well-drawn blog Watch Me Draw!) allows you to create animations showing how a drawing was made. I’ve made a couple of the animations, which are below the fold…

Like a lot of my drawings, this face looks a bit like a muppet.

I’ve been doodling this guy, or variants on him, for many years.

    Love it! But now there’s one more way I’m going to waste time out of my day procrastinating! :)

    Thanks, QDfka() and DJ!

    you know, this might just be because of my recent rereading of Contract with God/Droopsie Avenue, but has anyone told you your art reminds me of Will Eisner?

    I would assume you’ll take that as the compliment that’s intended as.

  4. Ampersand says:

    I can’t say I see much resemblance to Eisner in my drawing. But I certainly do take it as a compliment! There’s no one whose cartooning I like better than Eisner’s.

    (I actually took a class from Eisner once.)

    it’s not an aping of style directly or anything. just something about the charactierization. a weird hovering between realistic and caricature (of these, punkboy is much more in the vein I’m talking about than redhead.)

    that, and the page flow and dynamics you had on Hereville (really loved that by the way). I swear I’m not making the comparison simply because I’ve never seen anyone else write about jewish kids.

    Wow. You are a good artist.
