Portland Blogger Dinner – This Saturday, 5pm

[Bumped to the top! –Amp]

dimsum.jpg

5pm at Legin, located at 8001 SE Division Street (the cross is 80th Ave.) Legin features both dim sum and the more usual Chinese restaurant meals offered off the menu.

If you’re reading this blog post, you’re invited. There’s always a bit of uncertainty, but folks I’m expecting to attend include myself, Charles, A. J Luxton, Little Light, Cat, and perhaps (but perhaps not?) defenestrated, Bean, Raznor, Aaron, Ms Xeno, and others. Also, Sydney and Maddox and their parents will be in the house.

If you have a Portland-area blog, feel free to come, and feel free to post an invitation to your readers on your own blog, as well.

Meet-up clue? balloon on table? mickey mouse hat on Ampersand? Something? I’ve twice in the last 10 years failed to find the people I was trying to meet offline because I couldn’t tell the players without a scorecard.

    Lu says:

How cool! What will you be doing?

(I live in MA and don’t travel much, so there’s little chance we’ll ever meet in person, but I love vicarious fame.)

    Lu says:

I’ll be working too, so I’ll have to try to remember to turn it on before work and tape it if I haven’t seen you by the time I leave.

    defenestrated says:

I’ll be there! (I can walk n stuff these days, it rocks a lot)

    Ampersand says:

Bean is so cool. I’m gonna tell everyone I know her.

We’ll be the party with the two small girls with us, a one year old with hair so short she might have had a buzz cut, and a three year old with corkscrew blond hair. And I’ll be the 300 pound white man with black-brown hair in a ponytail and glasses. And Matt (Sydney & Maddox’s father) has very long very big dark curly hair and is about six feet four inches tall, so he’s not that hard to spot, either.

Let me know if you need more details to spot us with. :-)

    little light says:

    C’mon, y’all.
All the cool kids are doing it.

I’m kinda hard to miss, too. I have an epic nose.

    ms_xeno says:

I wonder if they even serve Dim Sum that late… Hmm. Well I can’t say no to a possible nose-off contest between bloggers, so I guess I’ll be there with The Demented Lawyer…

    J.D. says:

I’m not a regular at this site, but I visit now and then. Frykitty clued me into this gathering, and there’s a good chance I’ll be there. It’ll be fun to meet fellow Portland bloggers…

  11. 11
    Ampersand says:

Yay! Ms Xeno and Demented are coming! Woot, and the like!

J.D., thanks for responding — I hope you can make it.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in a few hours!

    Angel H. says:

You could put an “&” sign on your table so people could find you. :)

    I wish I could go.

  13. 13
    Robert says:

Just so you know, I’ll be hitting each currently open thread and posting a ten thousand word libertarian-patriarchy manifesto while you’re helplessly being buried under delicious food. And you’re powerless to stop me! Powerless!

Have a great time! Such bashes are inevitably fun.

  14. 14
    defenestrated says:

    hmmm.

    might not make it.

    (body…not cooperating)

    :(

  15. 15
    defenestrated says:

oop – and i’m sorry, which means I’m casting my vote in with bean’s under “y’all better do this again sometime. soon.” grrr!
(bean sometimes seem to growl in print)

  16. 16
    Rachel S. says:

How was it? Well, y’all may still be there.

  17. 17
    little light says:

The wee ‘uns are actually more adorable in person, Rachel.

  18. 18
    A.J. Luxton says:

It was fun. And loud. And chinese-food-y.

  19. 19
    Cat says:

Thank you all for a lovely, lovely evening! I met wonderful people, ate the best tofu *ever* and had many good conversations.

You know how most blogger meets are all awkward and you have to push people a little to get going? Well, Amp tried to go around the table and have everyone introduce themselves and their blogs. We didn’t even get to the third person before the table was drowned in conversation. I just love this bunch.

  20. 20
    Ampersand says:

It was horribly depressing; the lack of defenestrated cast a horrible pall over the entire evening. We actually did nothing but sit there and weep piteously over our defenestrated-less state; Little Light wailed like a little child (while Sydney, oddly enough, wailed like a grown-up).

But we all agreed to lie about it afterward and pretend we had a great time, to avoid bumming everyone out or making defenestrated feel guilty.

  21. 21
    Cat says:

So, where are the pics Charles took? You know, between bouts of weeping.

  22. 22
    defenestrated says:

That’s very sweet of you, Amp. I still totally don’t believe little light, though:

The wee ‘uns are actually more adorable in person, Rachel.

See, that just can’t be true. this is exactly why there Has To Be another one, and quick-like, before they grow up any.

  23. 23
    Ampersand says:

So, where are the pics Charles took? You know, between bouts of weeping.

I take it you’re okay with me posting some pics, then. How about other folks who were in attendance? Would anyone prefer that I not post pics of them?

  24. 24
    Rachel S. says:

Yeah, I wish I got to see those little kiddies.

My man Charles was there. I think I should have flown to Portland, so we could plan our strategy to defeat the likes of Brandon and Company. LOL!

  25. 25
    little light says:

Reluctantly, I’m’a have to say that I’d rather pictures where I’m obvious don’t go up, at least unless I have a look at ’em first. I’m kinda skittish about privacy issues, to say nothing of my insecurity with cameras.

That and, after all that crying over the lack of defenestrated, I got all blotchy.

  26. 26
    defenestrated says:

little light: aww! i was really looking forward to meeting you especially – even though it took an Amp-lified kick in the ass to remind me a while back of how much I enjoy reading your blog :D
see? another point for : Do it again, sam.

  27. 27
    belledame222 says:

    alas! that i missed this.

at first i read that last comment as “dim it again, sum”

  28. 28
    A.J. Luxton says:

Little Light, I’d have to say you’re the last person I’d expect to come off poorly in a picture, of all the folks there!

Now me, I probably looked like dork salad. =)
