I’m disappointed that I see so many people saying “those writers make enough money, it’s selfish of them to go on strike and deprive me of my favorite shows!”
For some of those shows, Heroes comes to mind, it might be a blessing in disguise to have abbreviated seasons. Some of those shows have the scripts but people aren’t crossing the lines including producers who are also WGA members.
I have a relative who just got hired by one of the night shows and they shut down the first day of the walkout but that’s the business. I have some friends and relatives in the WGA so I was going to go down one day and support them. But I think they’re back in talks with the producers.
The SAG and DGA have their contract talks before their contracts expire in June so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. There was talk that either or both might strike as well.
Strikes are mixed because they impact so many people besides members of the WGA, including many in the technical fields where my relative worked. Though I think the producers were a bit greedy. I think the WGA wanted better than they got with the DVD releases.
I should not have watched that in a library. Stiffling the laughter was painful.
Lovely video, and explains it all so well.

It’s nice to see that John Oliver is on the side of good at least.
To Raznor: Of course he is. He’s a writer for The Daily Show too.
