I haven’t blogged a lot about my household, have I? I live in a large house with a bunch of my friends – there are seven of us, in total.
Except now it’s eight.
So welcome to our new housemate: Sydney Quinn Schlotte, daughter of my housemates Kim and Matt. All 20 inches, 7.74 pounds of her arrived last night (and it was about time!).
Although I know Kim felt that her pregnancy had gone on more than long enough, in some ways I’m going to miss living with Pregnant Lady. Not only does Pregnant Lady have various useful superpowers (the ability to leap very low objects in just a few hops, etc), but she makes conversations unique. Last week, I overheard Kim chattering merrily to two burley, nodding workmen (there to install our new furnace) about her cervix. That’s a memory that’ll still give me giggles years from now..
Well, now she’s without. Congratulations to all three, and nice post.
WHAT!?
Matt and Kim live with you? And they were going to have a baby? And now they have it?
I’m startled.
Congratulations to everybody, though!
Vince, man, you’ve got to get in the loop.
I’d offer cigars all ’round, but that’s really Matt’s job, isn’t it? Hey, Matt–where’s my cigar?
That’s funny, when I was pregnant, I also called myself Pregnant Lady and thought of myself as a superhero! My powers were an amazing sense of smell, and the ability to worry other people into submission. Congratulations to you on your new housemate! By the way, Nursing Mommy is another superhero, with a totally different set of superpowers…
My dad’s middle name is also Quinn. I guess it’s not really a gender-specific name, though, is it?
Just thought you’d like to know for some reason.
Oh, and congratulations all around.
Congratulations!!
Congratulations! And may I add that Toddler Mom is also a credible superhero. Able to spot small objects going into mouths from across the living room, as well as leap across laundry to prevent Toddlers from falling into the patio because Toddler thought the sliding glass door was closed.
:-)
Congratulations!
Congratulations on the addition to your household.
I’m sure things will be pretty interesting around there for the next while!
Awww. Congrats to them! This makes me so wistful. There is just nothing in the world like a new baby. Their smell, their softness, their sweet kissable chins!
This might seem a tad warped, but it’s really cute how they don’t know where their body is yet, or even that their body is a part of them. For instance, it is not uncommon to find a new baby pulling her or his own hair, and crying as if someone is doing it for them. They have no idea they are doing it to themselves, and there’s just something unbearably sweet about that.
Give baby a smoochie for me. :)
:) :) :)
Ditto what Vincent said, and may I put in a plug for The Amazing Bouncing Dada as a cool superhero to have on hand. Also the Grandma of Stupendous Powers of Distraction.
*HUG* to all.
Sleep is for the weak! Congrats!
Well as the proud father of Sydney Quinn let me say thank you to everyone for your warm regards. She is doing astoundingly well and I have never been happier, as stereotypical as it sounds. Anyways, when I get out to a cigar shop, cigars will be gotten, and maybe tonight more pictures sent out. Thanks again for your concern.
Ditto to Matt’s commentary! Thank you all for such kind words; Sydney is a dream, and while I can no longer regale the handymen about the house with the cervix talk, Barry seemed extremely pleased when ‘nipple shields’ became a topic of conversation today. I was speaking with Charles the other day and tried to explain how light years away modesty and other such sentiments get when you are a mommy-to-be/new mommy.
Anyways, thank you all so much for the well wishes and compliments; needless to say, we agree, she’s an angel!
Warmest Regards,
Kim (Formerly Known as ‘Pregnant Lady’, now in training to become ‘Nursing Mommy’ — even went to the breastfeeding clinic today, though as per normal super-hero codex, I cannot repeat what I learned!)
Sydney Quinn Schlotte is the most beautiful baby born since 1970. I’m glad Uncle Barry and company enjoy her so much.
