Ow ow ow.

So I was working on my computer on the cartoon for the January issue of Dollars and Sense when I fell asleep. (It was about 5am and I had been up all night, so no surprise there).

Actually, I doze off at my computer quite often – I don’t like to go to bed until I’m absolutely exhausted – but this time I must have been sitting in a bad position, because when I woke up my back was killing me. So I swallowed a few asprin, finished up the cartoon and went to sleep for a few hours. Now I’ve woken up, and you know what? My back is still killing me.

So I’m thinking that my back may want some time off from sitting at the computer. Since Bean and PinkDreamPoppies are all travelling and doing Christmas things, that may mean that there won’t be much activity on Alas for a while… then again, if my back recovers, maybe I’ll be back tonight or tomorrow. We’ll see.

In any case, happy holidays, everyone!

(What am I doing Christmas Eve? The same thing I do every Christmas eve – I’m working at the Church. Like a lot of Jews, I pretty much ignore Chirstmas, so time and a half is all the holiday magic I require.).

This is most likely going to be the last year I celebrate Christmas. I hate it, it makes me miserable, and I’ve had enough of it. So, right there with you on the ignoring Christmas thing.

Still, I’ll take all the Christmas time in the world off from work, so no time and a half for me. I fucking hate my job.

Sorry about your back Ampersand. A really hot bath could help, and I mean as hot as you can stand. Also, cover it really warmly before you go out. Some old wives tales are excellent and true. Hope it recovers quickly.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, everyone! We combined all seasonal festivities into one word the other day, after a few trials. It speeds things up!
I hope your back gets better soon, Amp. Maybe have someone walk on it? See you all in early January.

Luckily for me, I get to spend a good deal of my computing time standing.

I was watching the celebration of the naming of the USS Ronald Reagan and I guess he made the Aristocrats happy, but I have yet to see anything he did of benefit to the people. Ronald Reagan was a Democrat, but he sold out and became a Republican. I think of Ronald Reagan as a traitor to the Democratic Party. When it came time for him to stand firm, stay the course and help to reform the Democratic Party, he cut and run to the money and prestige, abandoning the Democratic Party. We need people to run for President that are unlike Ronald Reagan and Wesley Clark, who will not cut and run to join the FOXES when the CHICKEN HOUSE is in disarray.
That someone is DR. HOWARD DEAN, Governor of Vermont. It is his intention to give the “DONKEY”
    a bath.

You might try and Alexander technique guy, as was recommended to me by one of my many orthopedists (not that it helped me any, though it may have if I hadn’t first been ploughed down by a taxi and operated by an incompetent surgeon and spent the following 8 years trying to persuade a doctor to fix me and going through operations 4 through 6 just this year, but I digress.). Anyways, to find an Alexander technique person, go to a health food store with a public bulletin board and look for bidness cards. And I hope we both feel better soon.

If it is your upper back/neck that hurts, then I have two suggestions: (1) when you get back to ‘puting, make an effort to sit up straight with your shoulders back and do not let the weight of your head pull your neck down, otherwise the shooting pains will start all over again; (2) get one of those stupid pillows with the head part concaved in.
