beatles rock band was released today, and 10 years ago the Dreamcast was released.

Were they this fascinated with obscure numerology in the 190x years? It seems like every day I’m faced with someone who’s amazed that 1/2/03 4:56 is going to occur or 8/8/08 at 8:08 or whatnot.

    I don’t get it…

I hold the microphone like a grudge
B’ll hold the record so the needle don’t budge
I hold a conversation, cuz when I invent
I nominated my DJ for president
When I’m see ill, people freestyle, going steadily
So pucker up and whistle my melody
But whatever you do, don’t miss one
There’ll be another rough rhyme after this one
Before you know it, you’re following and fiending
Waiting for the punchline to get the meaning
Like before the middle of my story I’m telling
Nobody beats the R so stop yelling
Save it, put it in your pocket for later
Cuz I’m moving the crowd and be a record fader
No interruptions and the mic is broke
When I’m gone, then you can joke
Cuz everything is real on a serious tip
Keep playing and I vary this quick
And take you for a walk through hell
Feed your dome then watch your eyeballs swell
Guide you out of triple stage darkness
When it get dark again then I’ma spark this
Microphone cuz the heat is on, you see smoke
And I’ma finish when the beat is gone, I ain’t no no joke

Aww crap, I’ve got to make a tough call on my gaming fix – get a new videocard to replace my onboard one on my PC, or Beatles Rock Band for the Wii.

    Crap.

  5. Danny says:

I have some questions that might help Foo. Is your pc gaming of the MMO (meaning you are sitting at your pc alone playing with online accquaintainces) variety? Is you place the “party place”* (meaning you are usually the one to host parties/friends)?

Which is more important having the latest hardware for your (relatively) solo adventures in the MMO world or having the latest in party ware to keep your party scene jumping?

    * – This is based on my own play time with the Wii and conclusion that it is more of a party system for get togethers than for solo gaming. You may feel otherwise about your Wii.

  6. Silenced is Foo says:

Neither. The problem is the presence of small children in the house means that reclusing myself in the office for gaming isn’t exactly an option very often, while playing out in the open on the Wii happens a lot more often, even solo.

  7. PG says:

Curious as to whether folks who identify as fat advocate consider this Michael Pollan op-ed to be fat-phobic.

No one disputes that the $2.3 trillion we devote to the health care industry is often spent unwisely, but the fact that the United States spends twice as much per person as most European countries on health care can be substantially explained, as a study released last month says, by our being fatter. Even the most efficient health care system that the administration could hope to devise would still confront a rising tide of chronic disease linked to diet.

That’s why our success in bringing health care costs under control ultimately depends on whether Washington can summon the political will to take on and reform a second, even more powerful industry: the food industry.

Is there any way to criticize the food industry’s practices in this regard without either patronizing (“you’re just too dumb to know better”) or demonizing (“you have no self control”) people who are overweight?

  8. PG says:

Sigh. Can we cut ACORN loose from the liberal/ progressive side, please?

  9. Robert says:

Can we cut ACORN loose from the liberal/ progressive side, please?

Get ’em to cross Obama and they’ll have bus tire marks on their back in no time.

  10. Jake Squid says:

ACORN’s union busting was what led me to cutting them loose.

  11. PG says:

Ooh, let me try that again.

Can we cut loose from the liberal/ progressive side the belief that only the historically empowered race can be racist?
