Portland Blogger Dinner, Saturday April 21st

Little Light and I met last month, and we agreed that it would be neat to hold a Portland Bloggers’ Dinner. Right now the target date is Saturday, April 21st, in the evening (6pm? 8pm?). Anyone who can make it is invited; bloggers, readers, comment-writers, whatever.

So: Where shall we eat? Someplace not too noisy, and with options for both vegetarians and carnivores, seems to be the minimum requirement.

I really wish I could be there, but if you’re ever down in the SF Bay Area, I think there are a few commenters from down here.

Oh, and you might want to check out yelp.com for figuring out a good place to eat.

  3. Auguste says:

Although I’m aware it’s considered downmarket by some, I’ve always been partial to Chez Jose for group dinners. Not sure about the vegetarian, though.

  4. Cat says:

Bill and I will definitely be there unless we’re hit by a bus. Before we talk venue–any idea how many folks to expect? I mean, I’d love to pile us all in to Queen of Sheba’s, but I’m not sure about logistics.

  5. Jake Squid says:

Bad date for me. I’ll be loading a truck w/ most of our worldly possessions and heading down to PDX that weekend. In fact, the next good date for me would be 5/6 or any weekend thereafter.

But I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I’m not asking my friends to help me move and I didn’t ask them for help last time. Just sayin’.

  6. Raznor says:

This seems like a fun time. I’ll see if I can drive down to Portland and join in the fun.

  7. Aaron V. says:

Legin? It’s large enough to host a pretty big group, and there’s plenty of vegetarian options….might be busy on a Saturday night, though.

  8. little light says:

Me, I’m still voting for the Lucky Lab, but these sound like good suggestions. I’m all agreeable, an’ stuff.

Anyone else? A. J.? Come on, we should terrify somewhere with a sudden descent of Interweb nerds.

  9. mandolin says:

I can’t make it either, but I am in Portland a couple times a year. Is it legitimate for commenters who are passing through to send you an email you when they’re going to be in town, in hopes of coaxing you out for coffee or somesuch?

  10. Ampersand says:

Hey, was it a mistake for me to suggest a Saturday night? We could make it a weeknight, if people think that would be better.

Mandolin, that would be totally cool.

Legin would be cool with me. Also, if we did it there, maybe I could convince Sydney and Maddox and their parents to join us.

Yay for everyone who said that they’ll be attending!

  11. Kai Jones says:

I’m certainly interested; my only venue preference is for non-smoking.

  12. Cat says:

Legin sounds great. The trick is to go a little early. If we do a 5pm dinner (provided they’re open), the place won’t be crowded. Also, that’s usually easier for folks to pull off on a Saturday.

  13. A.J. Luxton says:

I am probably coming. Legin is a bit tough for my map, but I could manage it. My preference, naturally, is for anywhere I can get to by taking a single bus (I’m on the 20, 19 and 75 bus lines, roughly.)

  14. Ampersand says:

It’s looking like Legin. How does around 5pm on Saturday sound to everyone?

Plus, if you have a blog of your own, please spread the word!

  15. little light says:

I’ll have to figure out where it is, and I may be a little fashionably late–on account of I’m working a graveyard shift the night before–but I’m in.

(Also, A.J., I could probably give you a lift home in my ridiculous truck, if need be.)
