In the near future I’ll either be blogging and commenting a lot more, or a lot less. I lost my job today and so will be busy looking for a new one. If things look good and I get some nibbles, it’ll be a bit before I can blog. If things look bad, I may get to post even more often than even Amp cares to read.
It’s actually not as bad as it sounds. I lost my job, yes, but I was planning on leaving in the near future anyway. It’s a mixed blessing: I’ll have the ability to look for a job without having to schedule around the nine-to-five, on the other hand I don’t have a source of income but do have bills. We’ll see.
Just wanted to let you know: Alas’ll either be PDP-free or so-much-PDP-you’ll-be-past-the-legal-limit..
It’s true I’d enjoy it if you posted more often, but not at the expense of starving to death. Good luck finding those nibbles.

Ouch. I’ve got a lot of friends and family who’ve lost their jobs in the last two years. Most have gotten something else, sometimes crappier, sometimes better. It still sucks though.
Ouch. My sympathy. Here’s hoping the perfect job (or at least a darned good one) shows up in the next two weeks.
Damn, I am sorry. Probably a useless offer, but if your in a tech field, I know some very good national recrutiers.

Good luck. My advice if your downtime goes longer than a few weeks is to start doing a large personal/hobby/home/self-improvement project that you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t had time for — in between job interviews and other legwork, of course! I was out of work for most of 2002, but did some hobby programming projects that actually helped me develop a lot of self-discipline, making me a better and more productive worker now. Um except for the looking at blogs all day part. Bye now!

As for what my “field” is… It’s not too personal to say, there just isn’t much to say. I’m a young, degree-less person with a few years of college under my belt (English major) and an uncertified skill in computer repair and maintenance. So, in other words, I’m kinda a flack.
I’m hoping to get back in to school soon, but who knows how the student loan brigade works, anyway?
It’s always bittersweet to lose a job you were planning to leave anyway. Hopefully your profession’s job market is not so bleak as mine, where I am lucky to have the shitty job I have. Good luck with the job hunt. May you find one that is both financially and spiritually rewarding.

Geez…get back in the game. I’m an English prof and can tell you with some assurance that with a degree–and your writing skills + your computer skills + your blogging experience = you could do ok! There seem to be more writing jobs of different kinds across the professional, academic and corporate spectrum than ever before. You’d do fine out there, but get the degree…even the English degree!

Sorry to hear about the job!
After a few months unemployed myself, I just got a job last Thursday and will start work on Monday. Just keep trying…even when you go on interviews, don’t get the job and wonder if you’re some kind of freak ;)
Maybe you should fill out the student loan forms and get them in for this fall. Now’s a good time of year to apply. Even if your employment is uncertain, keep the school plan in play because, unfortunately, years could go by easily without working on that degree.
Amp, maybe you could put a “paypal” button up for donations to PDP…if he is in need.
