"Alas" was down for a while – blame it on L.A.

“Alas” was down most of today, due to trouble at our server caused by the power outage in L.A.. Sorry about that, folks.

Also, I’ve currently got fifteen different illustrations or cartoons waiting on my drawing board, all of which must be drawn before the end of the month, so I’m afraid that I may not be posting much until October. We’ll see how it goes.

LOL….I tried to access here and it was page not found, rather than a scolding from Word Press, so I figured it was the outage.

Yeah, L.A. went out yesterday, because one employee cut the wrong cables. It wound up being okay for most people once terrorism(given the threat made against L.A. which got a lot of airplay in the Inland Empire b/c the guy spent five minutes here apparently)was ruled out.

The scary thing was the one guy, one pair of tools, one mistake, millions in the dark…Also, the DWP union was upset b/c they were running a major test in the daytime to avoid paying OT at night.

Mostly downtown, San Fernando, Venice, South L.A. and other cities like Burbank and Glendale. West Hollywood(a city probably on Edison’s grid) and Santa Monica were on.

We had a guy working for a private company cut a wrong wire here, and there was an explosion, he was practically blown out of the manhole(but lived) and about two sq miles was out for up to six hours.

In other L.A. news, it seems they might have caught a gator…or not. Gator did not play any known role in the outage however.

    Gator caught in L.A.

Hope that all the drawing means you’ll be rolling in cash like the capitalists you draw!
