- Untitled September 16, 2024Amber Thurman was only 28 when she died. A routine procedure - a D&C - would have saved her life, but Georgia has made performing a D&C a felony, punishable by up to ten years in prison. Pro-life kills women. https://www.propublica.org/article/georgia-abortion-ban-amber-thurman-death
- Untitled September 14, 2024A ridiculous lawsuit - the Death Game plotline is so common it's a genre unto itself. It's as if someone claimed Spider-Man is a Superman swipe because they're both about muclemen in tights who fight crime. Yes, they have a lot in common, but genre tropes shouldn't be copyrightable.
- Untitled September 13, 2024Today in D.C., "A Soldier's Journey" by Sabin Howard - part of the WWI memorial - was unveiled. And the 58 foot wide sculpture is comics! It has a single main character and tells a story sequentially from left to right. (Thread) @scottmccloud.bsky.social

- Untitled September 13, 2024Good post by Noah, about the odd double-standard between how the media and party treated Biden (driven out after a disastrous debate performance) vs Trump (no one even suggests he should drop out after a disastrous debate). https://www.everythingishorrible.net/p/everyone-knows-trump-is-less-fit

DiRico Dialogue’s interviews Barry
Hey, I was on a podcast! We basically shot the shit about politics and cartooning for 45 minutes, and hopefully I didn’t sound too much like a noodge. But let’s face it, with my vocal qualities, noodge is sort of … Continue reading

Come say hi to me on Alas, a Discord
Hi, folks! As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been posting even less than usual to “Alas” lately. Somehow I haven’t felt like blogging since the current strangeness began. (And really, I was hardly blogging before that.) I’m going to continue posting … Continue reading

Touristing And Loving It
Things I’ve done in the UK so far: 1) Did a bus tour of London, on one of those double-decker buses with no roof on the second level. My expectations were low, but I loved this. The tour filled my … Continue reading

This is exactly what it sounds like – a post so I can easily show contractors photos of some repair work I need done. So my usual readers should feel free to completely ignore this post. Or, you know, use … Continue reading

Thievery update: Someone stole my bike
Cut through the security chain and stole it from my yard. Oh, well. It was a nice bike, but I guess the next one will be nice too. Got to find a place to keep it indoors, I guess. 2013 … Continue reading

How I Foiled A Criminal In The Very Midst Of His Dastardly Crime!
Well, not so much “foiled” as “politely greeted.” I got home at about 11:50pm tonight; as I was walking in our front door, I ran into a man I didn’t know walking out that same door, wheeling a bike. This … Continue reading

I have a question for y’all.
But first, some context. 1. Dropped silverware in our plastic-tubbed dishwasher leads to a heating coil being out of place, which in turn leads to a huge hole in the bottom of the tub, which leads us to buy a … Continue reading
